07/30/02 DR. FULGHAM SPEAKS ON HEALTHY LIVING WITH DR. KEN COOPER

Dr. Pat Fulgham was a guest on Dr. Ken Cooper's radio show Saturday, August 17, 2002. The show was broadcast nationally from 9 to 10 a.m. and then locally on KRLD 1080 10 to 11 a.m. and throughout Texas on other stations (http://www.cooperwellness.com/hloverv.asp). He talked about prostate cancer - the incidence, diagnosis, treatment and how to reduce the risk of developing prostate cancer. Dr. Fulgham's recommendations for a risk reduction diet are available on our Web site under PROSTATE DISEASES

07/30/02 DR. FULGHAM CONDUCTING CONTINUING EDUCATION COURSES Dr. Pat Fulgham will be conducting separate continuing education courses for physicians this fall. Dr. Fulgham is the director for the American Urological Association's Hands-On Ultrasound Course. This will be held November 9-10, 2002 in the Fogelson Forum at Presbyterian Hospital of Dallas. The course instructs urologists in how to perform ultrasound.

Dr. Fulgham recently completed another video. This video is titled, Treatment Options for Prostate Cancer. This is now available to patients who are newly diagnosed with prostate cancer and outlines the various treatment options. The goal of this video is to assist patients in the decision-making process.

03/14/01 DR. FULGHAM RECEIVES THE 2000 COMMUNICATOR AWARD.

Pat Fulgham, M.D. received the 2000 Communicator Award of Distinction for his "Comprehensive Cancer Center" video. This video was produced by Dr. Fulgham and Presbyterian Hospital of Dallas for purposes of educating patients about the facilities at Presbyterian used for treating prostate cancer. The goal of the video is to facilitate a smooth treatment process for the patient. Dr. Fulgham offers these videos to his patients who are diagnosed with prostate cancer.

Dr. Pat Fulgham, UCNT President, has been appointed Program Chairman for the Texas Urological Society. He will be directing the program development and speakers for this year's Texas Urological Society meeting in Jackson Hole, Wyoming in June 2001.

Dr. Pat Fulgham, at the Presbyterian Hospital of Dallas UCNT Division, and Dennis Johnson, at Presbyterian Hospital of Dallas, are producing a patient education video on prostate cancer. Patients who are newly diagnosed with prostate cancer will be offered the opportunity to view the video in an effort to help them better understand the disease and their treatment options. It is hoped that the video, in addition to consultation with their urologist and other physicians, will assist patients in making informed decisions regarding the treatment of their prostate cancer.

Dr Fulgham has produced other videos which are available to patients. The other videos available are on:

• Vasectomy:For patients considering vasectomy as an elective form of sterilization.
  
• Presbyterian Hospital of Dallas Comprehensive Cancer Center:For patients who are considering surgical or radiation treatment of prostate cancer at Presbyterian Hospital of Dallas. This video won the National Communicator Award this year. The video was among 3,000 other videos from 47 states and 8 foreign countries submitted for the competition. It was produced by Dr. Fulgham and Dennis Johnson.

03/10/2000 DR. FULGHAM SPEAKS ON THE QUALITY OF LIFE AFTER PROSTATE CANCER ON TexasCN MONDAY, 3/20/00:

Dr. Pat Fulgham, with Urology Specialists & Associates in Dallas, will be featured in a news release to be shown on the Texas Cable News Network on Monday, March 20th. He will speaking on the quality of life after prostate cancer.  The informative news story runs 2 minutes and 14 seconds and will be shown at 6:55 a.m., 7:55 a.m., 8:55 a.m. and and 35 minutes following until noon and again at 3:13 p.m.  The Texas Cable News Network is cable channel 38.

01/01/2000 DR. EWALT ACQUIRES NEW OFFICE SPACE: David Ewalt, M.D., our pediatric urologist, will be moving into his new office at the end of December and will begin seeing patients there on January 4th. His new office is located in the Woodhill Medical Buildings across from Presbyterian Hospital on Walnut Hill Lane. The address is 8315 Walnut Hill Lane, Suite 205, Dallas, Texas  75231. Dr. Ewalt has designed his new office for his pediatric patients. It is bright and cheerful with unique art work that children will love.

PROSTATE CANCER TREATMENT GUIDELINES FOR PATIENTS:

The National Comprehensive Cancer Network and the American Cancer Society have published guidelines for the treatment of prostate cancer. These guidelines are available at American Cancer Society's Web site. You may also contact the NCCN toll free number (1-888-909-6226) to request a copy.

PROSTATE MICROWAVE THERAPY:

UCNT urologists are the only private practitioners performing prostate microwave therapy.

HIGH INTENSITY FOCUSED ULTRASOUND (HIFU):

UCNT has been selected as one of six national sites for FDA testing of HIFU, a minimally invasive treatment of benign prostatic enlargement.
